EV Charging Options

Plug In & Charge Up: Explore Ford EV Charging Options

If you’re considering getting a Ford EV, then you’ve probably weighed your EV charging options. Unlike a conventional gas or diesel vehicle, you have plenty of options when it comes to fueling up your electric vehicle. Stay tuned for more information regarding all the fully charged possibilities available. Whether you opt for a home charging station or you’re on the go, you have your pick of where you want to recharge. Visit Boulevard Ford of Lewes to discover Rehoboth Beach, DE, EV charging stations and learn all about our Built Ford Tough® EVs!

EV Charging Types

While gas stations are pretty standard across the board, EV charging options can vary in type. Different chargers have a range of voltage needs, power outputs, and charge times. Let’s cruise through the three main categories of EV charging options!

Level 1 Charger

The first of the EV charging options includes Level 1 chargers. This involves charging your EV with a residential 120-volt AC outlet. It can take approximately 40-50 hours for your battery EV to go from empty to 80 percent charge with a Level 1 charger. For plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), it usually takes about 5-6 hours to charge up from 0 to 80 percent.

Home EV Charging

Level 2 Charger

Level 2 EV charging options are typically seen installed in homes, work buildings, or public spaces. They supply a higher charging rate with 208-240 Voltage AC, allowing your EV to charge to 80 percent in just 4-10 hours. If you charge your PHEV with a Level 2 charger, you’ll be good to go in just an hour or two.

Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC)

If you’re on the go and need a quick pick-me-up, then Direct Current Fast Charging is the best of the EV charging options for you. These are the type of chargers you frequently see along major highways and in a variety of public places. Within 20 minutes to an hour, your EV battery will be charged to 80%, using 400-1000 Voltage DC. The typical power output of the DCFC chargers ranges from 50-350 kW. While it charges battery EVs rapidly, DCFC chargers do not work on most PHEVs. It accepts the following connector types: CCS Connectors, CHAdeMO connectors, and Tesla connectors. You can now reserve a free Fast Charging Adapter, if your vehicle is a model from 2021 to 2024 and you’re enrolled in the BlueOval Charge Network™. This adapter will allow you to charge your car at DC fast chargers that use the North American Charging Standard (NACS), including over 15,300 Tesla Superchargers in the United States and Canada. Reserve your adapter by June 30, 2024, to take advantage of this free offer.

Charge On the Go

If you have a Ford EV, you can locate charging stations nearby. The BlueOval Charge Network provides over a hundred thousand charging stations in North America, so you’re sure to find one to use as an EV charging option.

Ford EV Charging Options

Home EV Charging

One of the best EV charging options is about as local as you can get. Having an EV home charging station is extremely convenient and makes your commute ultra-efficient, allowing you to charge your electric vehicle overnight or while you’re relaxing on home base. Opt for a Ford Charge Station Pro Level 2, one of our highly recommended EV charging options for the Ford F-150 Lightning. The Ford Charge Station Pro Level 2 home install charger comes equipped with up to 80 amps of on-demand power, Bluetooth®, and Wi-Fi capabilities, and it is compatible only with the Ford F-150 Lightning. Other options include the Ford For the Ford F-150 Lightning Standard-Range Battery, which takes 10 hours to charge from 15-100 percent, and the E-Transit can charge from 0 to 100 percent in 8 hours.

Understanding EV Battery Life

Ford EV Range is just one aspect of the equation. Ford EV battery life, the overall lifespan of your EV’s battery, is equally important. Under the hood (or rather, beneath the floor), your Ford EV boasts cutting-edge lithium-ion battery technology. Renowned for its longevity and efficiency, this powerhouse delivers the punch you need while minimizing environmental impact. Ford EVs have proven their durability, with many models exceeding 100,000 miles on the original battery. But longevity isn’t just about big numbers. It’s about the peace of mind that comes with knowing your EV is in it for the long haul. Imagine confidently embarking on road trips, knowing your battery won’t hold you back. Picture years of reliable commutes, free from the worry of frequent replacements. That’s the beauty of Ford’s battery technology—it empowers you to embrace the electric lifestyle without compromise.

How Long Do EVs Last?

The good news? EVs boast lifespans just as long as traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. Today’s batteries are designed with incredible resilience, and you can expect yours to retain a significant portion of its original capacity even after years of faithful service. While EV range and battery degradation are inevitable, advancements in technology are minimizing its impact. Expect your Ford EV to serve you faithfully for years to come, with minimal battery capacity loss over time.

Boulevard Ford of Lewes is here to guide you on your EV journey, ensuring your electric ride runs smoothly and efficiently for miles to come. EV Service: Your Electrifying Experience

Owning an EV is different from a traditional gasoline car, but that doesn’t mean service is any less convenient. Our factory-certified technicians are specially trained to handle all aspects of Ford EV service, from routine maintenance to complex repairs. We use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and genuine Ford parts to ensure your EV performs at its best.

EV Car Maintenance

EV Maintenance

Ford EV service is fairly simple and straightforward. EVs have less moving parts than a conventional gas vehicle, which means less wear and tear. Additionally, regenerative braking helps extend brake life, and electric motors require minimal maintenance compared to gasoline engines. Although Ford EV service may be less complex than regular gas vehicle maintenance, there are still important parts of the vehicle that require maintenance and care. It’s important to perform routine tire service and rotations, replace vehicle fluids and coolants, repair suspension systems, and routinely check your EV battery. Our factory-trained technicians know just how to keep your vehicle in check so that it is running smoothly. Are you due for a Ford EV service? Schedule an appointment online today!

Taking Care of Your EV: Steps for a Smooth Ride

Following these simple tips will help you get the most out of your Ford EV:

Read your owner’s manual: It’s your Ford EV’s bible, containing valuable information on maintenance schedules, charging tips, and best practices. Keep your manual nearby to use as a reference whenever you have an inquiry about your Ford EV service!

Find a charging routine: Whether you charge at home, work, or public stations, develop a charging routine that meets your needs and helps maintain battery health. Part of EV car maintenance is ensuring that you refrain from always fully charging your battery. Although 100 percent seems like the goal, you should actually only charge your EV to a level of 85 or 90 percent. That way, the battery won’t deplete or degrade as quickly over time.

Taking Care of an EV

Plan your trips: Utilize apps and tools to plan your journeys, consider charging station availability, and optimize your route for efficiency. Access Ford’s BlueOval™ Charge Network through the FordPass® App to find a range of EV chargers near you, hassle free. There are currently over 106,000 EV chargers in the BlueOval™ Charge Network, the largest public charging network in North America, so you are sure to find one nearby locally or on your next road trip!

Visit your Ford dealership regularly: Regular checkups and preventive maintenance are key to keeping your EV running smoothly and avoiding pricey repairs down the road. You can quickly schedule an appointment online at your earliest convenience to get your Ford EV service done in a timely manner today!

Avoid extreme temperatures: Part of maintaining your Ford EV service means mainly operating your vehicle in moderate temperatures. Usage during extreme weather conditions can eventually cause wear and tear on your battery, which we want to do our best to avoid.

We’re committed to making your EV ownership experience seamless and enjoyable. With our exceptional service, transparent communication, and genuine customer care, we’ll ensure your Ford is always ready to power your adventures. Schedule your Ford EV service online today!

Dave Wilson National Ford Dealer Council

A New Beginning

Already a Ford Motor Company Top Volume Dealer Hall of Fame inductee, Wilson has been named the next Chairman of the National Ford Dealer Council at the company’s annual meeting on November 6 in Dearborn, MI. Wilson, who is the Founder and Chairman of Preston Automotive Group (PAG), iFrog Marketing Solutions, and also holds vested interests in numerous other businesses across the Delmarva area, was previously Vice Chairman for the Dealer Council.

“I am honored and humbled to serve Ford and the Ford Dealer Body,” said Wilson. “Together, we will continue to build on Ford’s truck leadership, Ford Blue, Ford Pro, and Model e. It’s an exciting time, and Ford’s product lineup is second to none, in my opinion.”

Wilson succeeds Tim Hovik, Owner/General Manager of Top 100 Ford dealer San Tan Ford in Gilbert, Ariz. Edward Marcel Stivers III was named the Vice Chairman alongside Wilson. “The National Dealer Council Chair position is so critical to our engagement with our dealer network,” said Andrew Frick, President, Ford Blue. “Dave, in this role, will represent the voice of nearly 3,000 Ford dealers across the country. I think Dave is perfectly positioned to have this role, as he is a very successful Ford dealer, and has eight Ford dealerships of different sizes that truly reflect the structure of the entire network.

The Future is Bright

“Dave’s approach of working together to drive our business forward is so important in this very dynamic industry, and I have total confidence in his ability to lead our dealers and work with Ford to improve our position in the market with a focus on our customers,” added Frick. The Ford National Dealer Council represents all Ford dealerships in the United States, and works closely with Ford Motor Company, Model e (electric vehicle division of Ford), Ford Credit, and Ford Pro. The elected council’s objective is to enhance customer experience at Ford dealers and seek innovative ways to evolve sales and service offerings for the brand.

Our Proud Ford Family

“Ford is committed to serving their customers, and this group will help drive that forward,” said Wilson. “Treating our customers like family will help to strengthen our sales and service offerings and increase loyalty for the Ford brand. We are #BuiltFordProud.” Preston Ford, a Top 100 Ford Dealer for the last 10 years, is one of eight total Ford rooftops under PAG, including Pittsville Ford on Route 50 just outside Salisbury, which also boasts a Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center. Wilson became a first-generation dealer at age 22 when he founded PAG and the original Preston Ford location in Preston.

“PAG is a family business that I am proud to say my family heavily participates in, and we also feel like every PAG associate is part of our family,” said Wilson. “The opportunity to serve as Chair of the Ford Dealer Council is a testament to their hard work, as well.”

Caring for Our Community

The familiar Preston emblem can be seen on cars throughout the Shore. PAG customers proudly display the monthly Preston Frog given in honor of that month’s charitable organization with the purchase of any vehicle. These organizations include causes such as Breast Cancer Awareness, American Heart Association, Save the Bay, and programs to provide lunch to local school children. The charitable work is done through the Wilson Family Community Foundation, which Wilson launched in 2019 with his wife, Peggy Wilson. The Wilson Family Foundation has made significant contributions to the communities that they proudly serve.
